Aims

Trellis Supported Housing

Trellis recognizes the importance of housing in the lives of people who have had problematic and long-term experience of using illegal drugs and abusing alcohol. Some may also have related issues such as a mental health diagnosis. We aim to provide good quality, safe accommodation and support to men and women who have a history of homelessness, chaotic lifestyles and who are seeking recovery from substance misuse.

Trellis offers accommodation with varying levels of support intensity for people who are in recovery or seeking recovery from addiction and are committed to an abstinent lifestyle. After reviewing the complexity of the characteristics and problems arising with substance abusing individuals there seems to be a need for differing levels of support for different people. We use this notion to optimise our service so that specific service-user needs can be more accurately identified and support tailored accordingly. Assessing the full spectrum of problems presented initially involves planning the individual’s support through specific assessments and devising and monitoring care plans. This ‘Support Matching’ hypothesis works on the assumption that service-users respond better to support geared towards their particular circumstances and personality.

We will support those seeking recovery who are aged from 18 – 64 years. Individuals will include substance abusers of varying types (i.e. alcohol, cannabis, cocaine and heroin) as well as dual diagnosed persons. The facilities are available for both male and females. We will accept people known to be living with HIV, Hep B, and C. Residents usually stay with us from a couple of months up to two years. Accommodation will be provided appropriate to the Supporting People standards.

Trellis Supported Housing is a bridge to independent living.
